Medication & Program Participation: Essential Considerations

Thank you for checking before you begin.

The Monroe Institute is an education organization, not a medical provider. We cannot advise on your medication, or on whether a program suits your health condition or circumstances, and nothing we publish is medical advice. Please speak with the doctor who prescribed your medication; they know your history.

Please keep taking your medication as prescribed. A Monroe program is not a treatment, and it is not a reason to stop or change a prescription.

Medication and your experience. Every person's experience of a Monroe program is unique, with or without medication. Some medications, including those prescribed for mental health conditions, may or may not influence how you experience the exercises. Because Monroe is an education organization and not a medical provider, we are not able to predict this for you or advise on it. Whatever you take, the program is never a reason to change it.

Our published guidance: if you have a history of epilepsy or seizures, auditory disorders, psychosis, dissociative disorders, or other conditions that may affect your experience of altered states, please consult your healthcare provider before listening to Monroe Sound Science or taking part in a program.

For everyone: do not listen to the exercises while driving, and avoid driving or anything that needs close focus for at least an hour afterward.
